Isis: turn a gold window into a complete army
By AoM Guides · retold
Coordinate Prosperity, safe miners, monuments, and a military transition that arrives with reinforcement already planned.
Prosperity needs somewhere to go
Isis’s technology focus and gold-income power support deliberate investment windows. The objective is to spend a protected gold surge on a useful transition, not simply finish an age earlier. A fast advance followed by empty production leaves the opponent time to punish the economy that funded it.
Establish the income before the cast
Identify the miners who will remain safe while Prosperity is active. If enemy cavalry is already moving toward the mine, first solve the immediate defense or choose a safer gathering plan. The power cannot compensate for workers spending its duration retreating.
Write down the next purchases mentally: advancement, a production building, the first units, and essential support. Keep food and wood income sufficient for their accompanying costs. A large gold bank with no food for the intended army is an allocation problem, not a reason to add more miners.
Prosperity also affects Trade Caravans in Retold. In a later team game, protect the trade route and time the power to finance an army replacement or another planned investment. Keep the route working throughout the window.
Keep monuments and military defense connected
Egyptian monuments generate favor passively; they are not Greek prayer sites requiring workers to gather favor. Their additional god-specific effects make location important, but a monument does not replace the ordinary troops needed to answer a raid. Inspect its current influence radius when deciding which working area it supports.
Place monuments so their power-blocking coverage protects a useful part of the base, and check the influence area when assigning the Pharaoh. Keep the Pharaoh alive and on the task that matters most: protecting the working economy, supporting production, or helping the defense.
Defend with the counter you need now
Build specialized Barracks units for the enemy composition you can see. A small, correct defensive mix near reinforcement is preferable to blindly accumulating one unit type while saving for advancement. Bring Priests when the opposing myth threat requires them and protect their firing space.
If the enemy continues to reinforce, spend enough to hold working resources before committing to the next age. Your economy must survive until the transition pays back. If they withdraw, scout the next route instead of assuming the entire map is safe.
Complete the first post-advance cycle
Place the Migdol where you can protect construction and reinforce the army. Choose its first troop type by the current enemy force and the terrain you will fight on. Mobile ranged damage still needs an answer to enemies that reach it; cavalry still needs help when anti-cavalry units hold the approaches.
Avoid researching every attractive technology immediately. First establish a composition you can produce repeatedly, with the upgrades that matter to those units. Then add broader choices when income and map control permit. Secure the replacement gold mine before the home deposit becomes an emergency.
A useful practice benchmark
Pause the replay when the first post-advance military batch finishes. Check whether the army has its counters and anti-myth support, the next gold is usable, and production can continue. If any part is absent, trace which speculative expense or delayed scouting decision caused the gap. Improving that complete cycle makes Isis’s economic window useful; merely shortening the advance does not.
