Introduction

This guide outlines a Fu Xi fast Heroic build for the Chinese pantheon in Age of Mythology: Retold. It’s designed as a solid, conceptual approach to hitting Heroic quickly with enough economy to support continuous unit production.

Use this when you want a tech lead and strong midgame army rather than early Classical brawls.

Concept & Goals

• Safe, solid Archaic with good scouting
• Fast but not reckless Classical
• Transition quickly into Heroic with 2 TCs
• Reach strong Chinese midgame units and upgrades earlier than opponents

Archaic — Eco Foundation

1. Send starting villagers to best hunt; build Granary
2. Train villagers non-stop; aim for 8 on food quickly
3. Add 2–3 villagers to wood
4. Add 2 villagers to gold
5. Scout with hero and any early Chinese scouts; locate second hunt and gold
6. Build Temple once you can afford it without idling TC
7. Click Classical on a standard 4:30–5:00 timing; don’t overdelay for extra eco techs

Classical — Minimal Army, Faster Heroic

• Drop a single military building at first; train a small defensive core
• Grab a 2nd TC in a safe but useful location (ideally on gold)
• Keep villager production going until ~60–70 population
• Spend lightly on upgrades — prioritize what will still matter in Heroic
• Bank resources for Heroic once you feel safe

Clicking Heroic

• Choose a Heroic minor god that complements your planned army (ranged focus vs frontline, etc.)
• Click Heroic as soon as resources permit
• While aging, add another military building or two so you can explode into production on arrival

Heroic Power Spike

• Immediately queue key Heroic units and myth units
• Research the first important techs from your new minor god
• Use your tech lead to force a big fight around enemy gold or TCs
• Consider a 3rd TC only after your first Heroic push has done damage

Tips

• Don’t skip defense. You still need enough army in Classical to not die to a rush
• Spending discipline. Every non-essential tech delays Heroic; be selective
• Scout all game. Fu Xi wants informed decisions about where to push with the Heroic timing
