Introduction

Demeter is the first new major Greek goddess in Age of Mythology: Retold, added via the Demeter New Gods Pack. She’s an economy-focused god centered around Town Centers, farming, and Lekon myth units that spawn from TC construction and upgrades.

Think of Demeter as a greedy macro Greek — if you like multi-TC play, eco booms, and winning via overwhelming economy, she’s your pick.

Demeter Kit (Retold Overview)

• Town Center synergy: Completing Town Centers spawns Lekon myth units (1 from normal TC, 2 from upgraded TC)
• Farming + eco focus: Techs and bonuses aimed at long-term food economy
• God Power — Wither: Damages enemy economy (villagers/resources) over time
• Lekon myth units: Melee myth units that scale with your expansion

Core Gameplan

• Play like a greedy Greek — fast Classical, fast 2nd TC, then 3rd TC
• Use farming techs and eco bonuses to snowball food
• Spawn Lekon from each TC completion/upgrade — they’re your free myth army
• Use Wither to punish enemy economy while yours scales

Standard Demeter Boom Build

Archaic Age

1. 4 villagers to food (hunt) — build Granary
2. 2 villagers to gold once you have 150 gold
3. Kill hunt near Granary to minimize walking time
4. After 7 villagers on food, train 2 on wood (storehouse)
5. Build Temple at 150 gold
6. Optionally train an Orthos (myth unit) to harass, depending on matchup
7. Advance to Classical with standard Greek minor (Athena/Hermes) based on plan

Early Classical

1. Drop your 2nd Town Center next to a gold mine
2. Empower TC construction with villagers for faster completion
3. Spawn Lekon from TC completion — use them defensively early
4. Aim to secure a 2nd large gold mine before planning Mythic

Wither Usage

Wither is Demeter’s signature GP — designed to cripple enemy eco:

• Cast on clusters of villagers on gold or farms
• Best used when you know their eco location (scout with heroes)
• Combine with raids — hit the same area Wither is affecting for maximum damage
• Can also be used defensively vs a forward enemy TC or eco cluster

Lekon Myth Units

• Spawn from TC completion and upgrades (1 from normal TC, 2 more from upgraded TC)
• Scale naturally as you boom — the more you expand, the more free myth units you get
• Use them as front line for your archers/infantry
• Don't be afraid to trade them — they didn’t cost population or resources to train

Army Composition

Demeter still uses the standard Greek military toolkit:

• Toxotes: Core ranged DPS
• Hoplites/Hypaspists: Frontline vs buildings/infantry
• Hippikons: Raiding + flanking vs ranged
• Lekon: Free myth front liners
• Heroes: Anti-myth, relic collection

Playstyle Tips

• TC timing is everything. Demeter rewards players who build Town Centers quickly and aggressively
• Don't forget upgrades. Upgrading TCs not only improves defense but also spawns extra Lekon
• Wither early, not late. The sooner you slow their eco, the harder it is for them to catch your boom
• Scouting is key. You can't Wither what you haven't found — use heroes to keep track of their eco
• Farm early. Demeter's kit is designed around farming — don't over-rely on hunt too long
